Styles that inform and inspire my teaching: The Viniyoga lineage flavors all of my teaching (also known as the Yoga of T.K.V. Desikachar), under the umbrella of Hatha and vinyasa.

Why I teach yoga: I have practiced since my late teens and yoga study was part of my college curriculum (psychology). One fateful day in a sauna after a yoga class, a favorite teacher told me that my practice was beautiful and I should consider teaching. Shortly after, I moved to Seattle to study with one of my master teachers, Tracy Weber!

Why I practice: I discovered meditation while learning Tai Kwon Do and was drawn to going internal and working to quiet the mind. I stumbled upon my first yoga article in Seventeen magazine at14. By 17 I was taking Kundalini classes, learning from books, and eventually dabbling in many styles and teachers. The study and practice of yoga has balanced my unpredictable musician lifestyle and grounds me!

What to expect from classes with me: I offer a low intensity flowing practice which links breath and movement. Classes begin with a few minutes of connecting to the breath and build slowly from there. We'll move in and out of postures to bring circulation and stay for longer stretches. I rarely do hands on adjustments and was trained in trauma-informed yoga so am very respectful of personal space. Sometimes I'll bring my guitar and sing to you during savasana!

When Iā€™m not teaching yoga, you can find me: I am a musician and that is truly my heart. I perform often - solo on piano in a singer-songwriter in a lyrical, poetic style with violin & cello, OR with a grungy rock band with shimmery electric guitars and big drums (check it out at! I am a vegan who loves exploring all of the awesome vegan eats in Minneapolis and I love to cook. I have huge wanderlust, and want to go almost everywhere on this beautiful planet. I'm also an avid runner - 10+ half marathons and 2 fulls. Bicycle commuting is a new passion - just have to get stoked on winter biking!
