Meet our teachers:

Chris Gordon is a certified Anusara® yoga instructor. He has been studying Anusara yoga with John Friend since 1998. He brings playfulness, devotion and over 15 years teaching experience to his classes. He honors each individual’s ability while also gently encouraging students to deepen their own practice. Chris is a certified massage therapist with over 10 years experience and specializes in Thai Massage and offers deep-tissue and relaxation massage. He teaches Thai Massage Trainings at Big River Yoga. Chris is the owner/director of Big River Yoga.

 

Jenn Davis has been drawn to the healing powers of creative movement in dance and gymnastics since childhood. In 1992, I found my passion in yoga and immersed myself in study and practice. My education includes Yoga, Anatomy, Body Mind Centering® and Thai Yoga Bodywork. I became a certified yoga instructor in 2002 through Doug Swenson. I am influenced by many styles of yoga, including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Anusara, Mian and Iyengar. Since 2003 I have studied Anatomy and Body Mind Centering® with Suzanne River. In 2006, I completed level 2 training in Thai Yoga Bodywork with Tanya Boigenzahn Sowards. I have been teaching yoga since 2002. I teach studio classes, workshops, on-site yoga and private lessons. I offer modifications and adjustments to support students of all levels.

 

Bridget Ferguson’s love for yoga began in the late 1990s while practicing with local Iyengar teacher, William Prottengeier. In January, 2006, she was introduced to Jordan and Martin Kirk and Anusara Yoga. Since that time Bridget has studied extensively with Anusara Yoga founder, John Friend, Jordan & Martin Kirk, and other national Anusara Yoga teachers. Bridget is Anusra-inspired.

 

Liz Wentworth began her exploration of the science and art of yoga about 10 years ago with a dear friend and an open heart. In 2008 Liz began her 200 hr. level training at the Yoga Center of Minneapolis and is now a certified yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance. This journey has continued to bring new opportunities and revelations of the complexity, beauty and grace of the human body, mind, and spirit. Liz strives to teach a class that emphasizes self-trust and love, true body alignment (both inside and out), and a strong sense of being part of a supportive community. Holly Munoz is a Saint Paul, MN transplant by way of El Paso, TX, Holly raises money for her alma mater, Macalester College, plays music in a rock band, runs an independent record label and tutors at-risk teens in public high schools. Holly has practiced yoga with many great teachers over the years and is especially drawn to vinyasa and Anusara styles of yoga. Holly is a certified yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance.

 

 

Jude Higdon has been practicing yoga since 2004 and teaching since 2007. He studied and practiced with Anusara® teachers in L.A; Noah Maze and Ross Rayburn before moving to the twin cities. He aims to brings a fun, playful teaching and practice style to his yoga classes. He holds a doctoral degree in educational psychology and works as an educational technologist in a variety of contexts, primarily in higher education. He practices asana (yoga postures) regularly with his husband Chad and his daughter Maya, who's favorite pose is tree pose.

 

Andrea Tutt wishes to offer students a gentle path to presence of self, truth, and contentment. Andrea achieved certification with a focus in rehabilitation and pre/post natal with The Pilates Method Alliance in Toronto in 2005. She became a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour level in Ohio in 2006 and continues to deepen her studies with various workshops and certifications annually. She is currently in her second year of becoming a Registered Feldenkrais Practitioner. Andrea’s teaching has been most influenced by her studies with Sianna Sherman, Ranjali Cobo and Desiree Rumbaugh. Andrea's passion for alignment, postural precision and freedom of movement creates a deep yoga experience both in private sessions and group classes.

 

Kathy Flaminio’s style of teaching reflects her passion for creating community where participants experience  deep support which allows them to  trust  and feel empowered to meet life’s joys and challenges. Kathy holds a masters degree in social work and is a registered yoga teacher with more than twenty years experience guiding people to higher levels of health and wellness. Kathy's style of teaching is deeply influenced by the Anusara method of instruction. She is grateful to her teachers:  John Friend, Desiree Rumbaugh, Todd Norian, Amber Huttner, Ali Certain, Ronna Rochell and Yoga Calm Founders, Jim and Lynea Gillen.

 

Nora Hoeft loves to take life by the reins and is passionate about health, believing our bodies have unsurpassed wisdom. She supports a sustainable model of health through food, lifestyle, spirituality and holistic medicine. She has worked at the Mississippi Market Natural Foods Co-op since 2004 and was manager of the Wellness Department for several years before she decided to return to academics. Nora is currently pursuing her Masters in Public Health Nutrition at the University of Minnesota. When she is not in class or studying, you can find Nora on her mat at Big River Yoga, giving Thai Bodywork, riding her bicycle, enjoying the outdoors, getting creative in the kitchen or sipping a cup of green tea.
